Roof garden

The combination of plant resilience and human ingenuity makes it possible to plant spaces with only a minimal depth of growing medium and to create roof gardens. An intensive roof garden can be built from a layer depth of 20 cm, and by increasing the depth almost any plant can be used, whereas an extensive green roof can be built on a shallow layer of just 8–15 cm, typically with drought-tolerant ground-cover plants.
